EXPLORE OUR MILLESTONE
2025
Katharine Luo-The Pingry School Senior, project leader, volunteers at the Feeding Hands food pantry, lending her time and strength so that more people can become food-secure. Besides physically volunteering at the food pantry, she noticed the diminishing quality of food being donated, whether that be fresh produce or baked goods. The economic downturn also increased the influx of clients to the food pantry. She has been utilizing the resources of local school and bakeries to support Feeding Hands. She was able to successfully connect with Panera Bread to donate its extra breads and pastries, and her advocacy for the food pantry has allowed her to reallocate important resources for its benefit. To have a larger impact beyond her individual effort, she created the Food for Thought club to engage other students in this effort as well.

Gavin, the founder of Youth for Better Living Inc., partnered with farmers and Special D Meats in Macon, Missouri, and together they raised over $1,721.00 to support local school clubs. The farmers donated hogs, and through Special D Meats, they processed, packaged, and sold the meats to customers.

2024
Gavin gave a TEDx talk at the Cherry Creek High School event, focusing on raising awareness among youth about obesity and promoting a healthier lifestyle. He shared his personal experiences about how being overweight at a young age impacted his self-esteem. The talk garnered over half a million views. The talk also raised awareness that childhood obesity is a global issue. Some comments mentioned that his struggles offer a new perspective on how parents and schools can work together to create a happier and healthier life for the youth.

2023
Collaborated with Thailand local volunteers and businesses to provide school supplies and living necessities to 168 stateless students who fled their home country, Myanmar, and worked with Rai Som school administrators to establish a sustainable way to supply food in the long term.

Later in the year, Gavin launched an online store, accepting second-hand closet clothing, especially football cleats. He organized a few fundraising events and successfully reached the goal of $6,000.00 to help build four bathrooms for the students in Rai Som School, as they currently don’t have any.
